Newsletter - June 2011I hope you and your business are going well. Two months have passed since our last newsletter, which means we've skipped a month twice in a row now. It's becoming a bit of a habit... The reason for skipping another monthly newsletter is simply because we're so busy looking after our existing and new clients. And to be honest, I think most of you would agree that looking after your insurance is more important than a newsletter. For the first time ever, some of you reading this newsletter won't have had any dealings with me. That's because we've had some big changes in the office, which you can read about below. Finally, if you're located in Queensland we have a special gift for you this month. Read on for more information. Here's what you'll find in our December newsletter: Changes at the Trade Risk office Although media reports have been saying that times are tough in the building and construction industry, here at Trade Risk we've been busier than ever with new clients and enquiries. The workload has been getting quite heavy, so instead of lowering the high service levels we offer to all clients, we instead made the decision to bring on some new partners to help look after you guys. Any existing clients will always be looked after me, but for new clients (including plenty of readers of this newsletter) you will be referred to one of our partner advisers or brokers for assistance. These advisers and brokers are not employed by Trade Risk, and instead they run their own successful insurance businesses. We have chosen them specifically due to their level of experience and knowledge in the industry, particular in dealing with tradies. So if you find yourself dealing with Mark in Brisbane or Rachael on the Sunshine Coast, or of course me here in the main Brisbane office, you can be assured of receiving the best service and advice from knowledgeable financial advisers and insurance brokers. A special gift for our Queensland Readers In a few weeks time the National Tradesman's Expo will be on at the Brisbane RNA Showgrounds. The show is a great chance to view and try out the latest in tools, vehicles and machinery. If you're lucky you might also be able to grab a good "show deal" on the new piece of kit you've been after. Entry is $20 per person, however we're giving away complimentary double passes to all Trade Risk clients and readers of this newsletter. To claim your free double pass simply click on this link to our website. An easy tax deduction for your business Tax time is always a busy period for tradies, and it's the Australian way to try and get every single cent of deductions that you can! One of the easiest tax deductions you can get is for income protection, which is 100% tax deductible for all Australians - regardless of whether you're self-employed or on wages. Not only is it an easy tax deductions, but it's also one of the best investments you could make in yourself. I won't go on about how important income protection is to you and your family, but I will leave you with this quote: If you work for yourself and don't have income protection, it's like working on a roof without a harness. If you don't fall you'll be fine, but if you do fall, there's nothing there to save you. I came up with that recently whilst putting together a review letter for a client, and I think that it sums up the situation quite well. But it doesn't just apply to the self-employed. Even if you are on wages, sick leave and worker's compensation will only go so far. To ensure you are truly protected you need to get in place a decent insurance plan that at least covers income protection. And remember, the premiums are 100% tax deductible!
